You finally sit down, but your mind keeps going.
Did I forget something? What if this happens? What do I need to do tomorrow? Why can’t I just relax?
Anxiety has a way of keeping our minds busy even when our bodies desperately need rest. And sometimes, the harder we try to stop worrying, the louder those thoughts become.
Scripture offers a gentle reminder: “Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10).
Being still doesn’t mean you have to instantly feel peaceful. It can simply mean giving yourself permission to stop solving everything for a moment.
Try placing your feet on the floor. Take a slow breath. Notice what is around you. Then remind yourself:
I do not have to figure everything out right now.
You can bring your worries to God while also giving your nervous system the time and space it needs to settle.
Peace may not arrive all at once. Sometimes it begins with one breath, one prayer, and one small decision to stop carrying tomorrow today.
